Medieval Times

Perhaps the prairie dress trend was just that..A
trend, but I still love wearing it!!!
I enjoy the romance of a loose floral printed maxi skirt,
and those laced up bodices that are straight out of a fairytale!!
This is quite a unique piece I discovered!
While browsing through a vintage shop I found this unusually green colored dress.
To me this looks to be a Gunnesax dress that had been dyed green.
I think its awesome! I love the green color.
The burgundy velvet trim looks almost royal from a Medieval time period.
I took it to Ireland with me and did an incredible shoot by this big beautiful lake.
I felt like a Princess in this dress!
This summer I'm going to try to make a few prairie inspired looks for myself.
I need more maxi skirts in a lot more colors!
I know by this point we have had way too many trends thrown at us.
The key is to take your favorite looks and mix and match them to what is uniquely you.
Happy Styling!

Spring Break

How good does the beginning of March feel??!
I thought the winter was never going to come to an end.
Technically its still winter but the temperature has definitely gone up on the East Coast.
I've been in the mood for more beach!
I find that fringe is such a fun little design detail in swimwear!
It gives a rock and roll edge to a plain bikini or one piece suit.
I decided to style this cute fringed bikini bottom with a cropped fringe tee I happen to have!
I love the olive green color of this tee.
Olive green and Army green have been my 2 favorite colors to wear lately.
I find that any neutral color like brown, beige or black matches Olive real well.
I love how this look came out!
I try as hard as I can to turn my beach wear into a style statement.
It can be a challenge at times  considering theres not much to beach wear.
The official start of Spring is only a few weeks away!
Have a happy and healthy spring break loves!

Shimmer Effect

I love to be covered in sparkles and shimmer for photo shoots!
I think the best way to achieve that affect is with jewelry!! I'll be honest..
I don't wear tons of bracelets, necklaces and rings every single day.
Accessorizing can be a challenge!
It takes time to pick the right pieces to style a look.
I start with the hue and color of the dress or top I'm wearing,
and then color coordinate my accessories around that.
This is an almost white light pink silk tunic top.
The moment I saw it, I knew it'd be perfect to throw on over a bikini for the beach.
I knew it needed a few sparkly pieces for it to stand out.

I chose silver rhinestone pieces and layered necklaces to match the jeweled bikini I'm wearing.
I gathered the jewelry pieces together the night before the actual shoot.
As much as I wish I could roll out of bed in the morning and just know what to style I can't!
One of these days I need to show you my collection of accessories.
Its still growing and needs organizing!!
I feel like one of the most important factors in putting looks together is organization!
Once my accessories are organized I'll give you a small tour of my humble little accessory collection.
I'm happy I can give you a few tips on how I style my looks.
As with anything worth while it takes time and patience.

Smokey Harem

The holidays are finally behind us!
Now to focus on a beach get away for the winter.
Whether you plan on vacationing or not,
its always a good idea to start planning ahead for warmer days!
I recently made this black silk velvet burnout shawl.
I love the way it came out.
I wanted to do something fun and creative while shooting it,
so I put it together with one of my favorite bikinis from Victoria's Secret.
I never wore a shawl as a beach cover before but I love how the look turned out!
It has a Victorian, Gothic art deco feel about it.
This shawl will be up for sale soon on Shabbybabe.com
It can be used for evening wear, beach wear, or even as a scarf throughout the day.
I'm so happy we caught the sunset during this beach shoot.
I wanted to capture the iridescent colors and textures.
