Sea Siren

Who's leaving for a weekend get away this winter??!
I wish I was! February is such a huge month for tropical Island getaways,
I thought I'd do a post about it.
I love to wear big full maxi wrap skirts to the beach.
Their easy to take on and take off,
plus packing them in your beach bags is a cinch!
When I go to the beach I don't always go for a swim, which is kind of odd...
I like to get a tan,and walk along the shore, and that's where the beach separates come into play.
This cotton batiste skirt was truly a fab vintage find of mine!
The navy and batik print is out of this world!
Its so perfect for a day at the beach.
I received so many compliments on this beauty of a skirt.
With a fabulous skirt like this its always important to find a stylish bikini top to put with it.
So I put on this cute gold metallic and silver Victoria's Secret.
All season long I've been wearing my heart shaped sunglasses from Wild fox and I love them! Although they were expensive a good pair of shades is always worth the money. I know I'll get a lot of wear out of these sunglasses. Hopefully your enjoying the sunny weather for your tropical Island winter get away this month.

Amber Sunset

Layering clothes is a look I have a lot of fun with!!
As much as I love dresses separates play a big role in my wardrobe as well.
I was so lucky to have thrifted this crochet sweater...I've never seen fabric so beautifully laced and crocheted as this tunic top.
I almost didn't pack it in my suitcase to California.
It came in so handy at Moonstone beach when I was there at sunset.
It turns out California can get chilly at night.
This sweater top is a rust color which I love!
It truly matched the sunset that night.
I wish I could find more of these sweaters, but its so hard to find something this unique!
A top like this would be ideal for a beach cover up or to wear casually with jeans.
It can pass for grunge or boho depending on what your personal style is..
That's what I adore about vintage pieces.
The vintage clothing of the past can put an interesting spin on a modern day look.
Vintage is also great because you can guarantee nobody will have the same outfit as you.
I received so many compliments on this sweater,
and I'm so happy to have found it.

Mermaid Sighting

Theres a beach lover in all of us!
I know I can't get enough of the beautiful beaches in summer.
I'm there every weekend soaking up the sun.
I was lucky enough to experience the California beaches over the summer.
They are spectacular!
The beaches of Cali have big beautiful rocks, clear blue water, and the most golden soft sand.
I found the ultimate sheer blue dress that a mermaid would wear!
I wore this peacock feather print boho chic dress from Shabbybabe over my bathing suit.
I put on a gold mesh metallic belt with a tribal fringe necklace.
I feel like if a mermaid did get washed ashore she'd wear this dress too ha ha.
Its a vintage 70s dress but truly looks brand new.
The dress is made out of silk so the drape is perfect for a windy day.
This beach was like something out of a dream.
I was the only one there that day, and I loved it!
I had a blast shooting this Look book.
Theres nothing like watching the sunset over the ocean as the day ends.

Purple Haze

What is it about sundresses that makes us want 20 or 30 of them in our closets??
I can't say that I'm not guilty of having one too many dresses for summer.
The best feeling is to change out of those confining jeans and jackets and to put on a loose dress.
During my trip to California I was always hanging on the rocks by the ocean.
I wore this gorgeous boho dress a couple times while being out there.
Its a vintage 70s paisley floral dress.
I love the simplicity of the style.
You'd never think it was a vintage dress!
The print is incredible!
Its all jewel tones, and is an all over print.
It has a wide skirt with thin spaghetti straps.
This is a fantastic day to night dress.
You can wear it all day then at night put on heels and a belt to make it more evening.
Only 4 or 5 months to go till summer time is back.
I can't wait!!

Patchwork Heart

I've always loved the look of Blue Denim patchwork!
Patchwork is a look and an art form that goes hundreds of years back.
Its such a classic look we still wear it today.
While at the beach during sunset, it tends to get a little chilly at times.
I have this 70s blue leather patchwork sweater that I put on over my shorts and bikini.
It was just the right outfit to bring that day.
I love this sweater because it can be boho, grunge, hippie you name it.
The sweater can be a sweater dress or a tunic top.
Its a fantastic layering piece.
For this shoot, I wore the sweater with knee high leather boots for more of a grunge effect.
It would look great with gladiator sandals as well.
Blue is one of my favorite colors to wear,
so I love that its all different shades and textures of blue.
I finished the look with a choker of course!
I love chokers because they look great on my small frame.
Not to mention you can wear them with anything,
their very versatile like that.
This look has inspired to start collecting even more patchwork for my wardrobe!
I can't get enough of this look.
