Smokey Harem

The holidays are finally behind us!
Now to focus on a beach get away for the winter.
Whether you plan on vacationing or not,
its always a good idea to start planning ahead for warmer days!
I recently made this black silk velvet burnout shawl.
I love the way it came out.
I wanted to do something fun and creative while shooting it,
so I put it together with one of my favorite bikinis from Victoria's Secret.
I never wore a shawl as a beach cover before but I love how the look turned out!
It has a Victorian, Gothic art deco feel about it.
This shawl will be up for sale soon on Shabbybabe.com
It can be used for evening wear, beach wear, or even as a scarf throughout the day.
I'm so happy we caught the sunset during this beach shoot.
I wanted to capture the iridescent colors and textures.

Patchwork Leather Groove

I love the vintage coats of the 60s and 70s!
The tailoring was impeccable, design lines were figure flattering,
and the creativity was limitless.
Lately I've been into wearing trenches from the 70s.
In a lot of the vintage coats you see patchwork leather designs,
faux fur collars, and bright neon colors.
I was extremely lucky to find this treasure while thrifting.
Its the most elaborately detailed leather coat I've ever seen!
The coat has jewel toned pieces of patchwork throughout the garment.
Reds,greens,taupe's,and black,make it so sharp!
I don't know about you but,
double breasted coat closures are my favorite way to button up in the winter.
Theres something about the front double breasted coat that looks sleek and military.
I think on a woman its flattering as well because it truly shows off our hour glass figures.
This coat would be adorable with a mini dress and boots for evening!
Its a day to night piece.
I wish we could see beautiful design lines like this again.
I am forever inspired by the past.

White Wedding

In case you were wondering, this isn't a blog post about my wedding haha.
I'm not married or engaged yet, but this dress and photo shoot put me in the bridal mood!
I adore this dress from Shabbybabe because it can be so many things!
Depending on how you style it and where your going,
this dress can be used for bridal or just a nice maxi to wear to the beach.
Its made of cotton eyelet...I love the sweetheart neckline, and halter straps.
It has princess seams that fit and flare for added fabric around the hemline.
I enjoyed this shoot! I headed up to upstate New York to a gorgeous park.
I was surrounded by acres and acres of green grass and mountains.
This would be the ideal location for wedding photos
if you happen to live in or around Upstate New York.
I styled this dress with a faux blue Turquoise necklace.
The necklace really popped against the long white maxi dress!
Hopefully this will inspire you with some beautiful photo ideas if your a bride to be!

Keep your Hat On!

Happy May everyone!! Summers around the corner.
As we know, Its all about staying cool in the late spring and summer.
It wasn't until recently that I started wearing hats to keep the sun rays off of me..
While I was in California in September, it was so hot on the beaches!
Sunscreen and shades just weren't enough to keep me cool.
Luckily,I found the cutest little hat store in Haight/Ashbury in San Francisco!
I went in to Goorin Bros. not knowing what I was going to find.
I tried on a few hats and fell in love with this Floppy hat!
Its pure wool and fits so perfectly!
I'm not a big spender, but I feel that when choosing a hat for your wardrobe,
you should invest in something a little bit more expensive.
A good quality hat will fit better, and last years!!
I traveled all around Cali with this hat on and took it on the plane too.
Even after storing it for almost a year in my closet it still fits and looks beautiful!
I'd like to get at least one or 2 more hats..
Their so much fun to wear, and really make a statement!
This summer I'd love to show you even more unique looks using more bold hats!
